Since 1994, each year, the candles alight and the portals to the Ballo del Doge open to welcome the most sumptuous and exclusive Masquerade Ball of the Carnival of Venice. Il Ballo del Doge is an artistic event, a worldly appointment, an unforgettable experience that unites Guests coming from all corners of the earth.

Antonia Sautter is the artistic soul and the producer of this International Carnival Gala – an interpretation that revisits the historical aristocratic banquets and reproduces them in a very contemporary manner – with over 100 extraordinary performers, about 1.500 luxurious costumes designed and handmade by Antonia Sautter, extraordinary set designs, a delicious dinner with refined dishes and Champagne, an after dinner dancing party with open bar.

Guests, wearing their costumes, reach the venue in the heart of Venice and fall immediately into a fantastic world made of luxurious decorations, never ending artistic shows, exclusive foods and drinks. The party continues late into the night.

The XXVII edition of Il Ballo del Doge will be held on Saturday 22nd February 2020 and will be dedicated to a new theme:

Carnival Rhapsody

Provocation, Redemption, Miracle

The theme of the most exclusive masquerade party of the Carnival of Venice 2020 will be dedicated to tell the essence of the Carnival through the symbolism of rhapsody, that in its musical meaning represents the freedom of interpreting a theme, without established patterns, a succession of mixed ideas and rhythms that express for everyone the possibility of experimenting and improvising while telling a story.

The essence in a provocative question:
Carnival is real life, or real life is nothing but a Carnival?

This and much more will constitute the screenplay of Il Ballo del Doge 2020.

Costumes rental is available by booking a costume fitting appointment at Antonia Sautter Atelier, close to St. Mark’s Square where Guests can choose among more than 1.500 creations all designed and handmade by Antonia Sautter.
